ENVIZAGE

Simulation & Visualisation

The ability to visualise in a three dimensional environment and to interact with that environment are technologies that are becoming more and more pervasive each year. They have gone from gaming into product design, virtual manufacturing and online training. This is a big part of Autodesk's all-encompassing Digital Prototyping environment.

ENVIZAGE is a provider of technology, expertise and training in the fields of simulation and visualisation. The team is led by David Simper who has extensive simulation experience with the Royal Australian Navy's Computer Modelling Group. Technical expert Babak Sanayei is an accredited product instructor and his portfolio includes creation of the online racing game for Toyota Racing Development (go to www.trd.com.au) and photo-realistic rendering for Holden Special Vehicles. ENVIZAGE is a member of the Simulation Industry Association of Australia, Games Developers Association of Australia, Design Institute of Australia, and is on the organising committee of the Simtect (simulation technology and training) Conference.

Our visualisation portfolio includes Autodesk Showcase which creates accurate, realistic imagery from 3D digital design data to communicate form and character. Showcase helps users present and review designs in an environment in which team members can make reliable decisions - especially as it allows non-engineering stakeholders to quickly and simply interpret complex 3D scenarios and contribute even better to a project. Complementary to this is the Autodesk AliasStudio™ line of products with industry-leading sketching, modeling, and visualisation tools. It allows designers to capture ideas digitally - from initial sketches through to 3D concept models (especially with A-class surfacing as in automotive, aerospace and marine)...in a single environment. Both solutions are synergistic with the three dimensional Autodesk CAD/CAM/CAE software that we provide (refer to Digital Prototyping part of website).

Not only are industries (such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, architecture) in need of this virtual reality technology in the areas of design, product evaluation and production...as products and processes become more complex, and safety becomes more of an issue, they are demanding that simulation technology continue from the engineering department to training delivery, product maintenance, management and executive decision makers.

ENVIZAGE provides the tools to create real-world immersive simulated training content making use of 3D engineering CAD data. Our unique software (3Dvia Virtools) can easily produce immersive 3D Playstation and Xbox-like environments with complete interactivity. The defence, mining, power and energy and emergency services industries are already utilising this technology to create realistic training scenarios. For example, the University of New South Wales School of Mining has collaborated in the development of a Virtools-based 360-degree simulated training environment (www.icinema.unsw.edu.au). You feel you can reach out and touch the roof bolts, manoeuvre past static vehicles, and in the process you can interactively learn how to recognise danger signs and situations. Similarly in an open cut simulated environment at the wheel of a giant haul truck you can learn to manoeuvre beside an electric shovel for loading and be alert to how easy it is not to see people or personnel vehicles from a driving position several metres high. Many of today’s "first shooter" and battlefield games have Virtools as their foundation architecture. The advanced version (3Dvia MP) is capable of creating complex virtual reality content for the international serious gaming industry.

ENVIZAGE is unique in that we can combine digital and physical simulation, especially in the area of part task trainers. Utilising the Advanced Manufacturing part of our business we can prototype and manufacture physical environments such as accurately reproduced helicopter cockpits, train driver consoles or truck cabins which incorporate virtual reality output.
